Championing Wellbeing

During times like these when colleagues are perhaps feeling overwhelmed and vulnerable, resilient leadership is crucial. Leaders that focus on improving the wellbeing of their people tend to enjoy better relationships with them. By championing resilient behaviours, encouraging and inspiring open and supportive workplace practices can create a more positive atmosphere and lead to a more effective and productive team.

We turned to our pharmacy friends at Alphega Pharmacy for their experiences and take on championing wellbeing in the workplace. Here’s what they had to say:

Steve Lytton, Alphega Pharmacy Business Mentor.

“I have had to learn to work differently in a very short space of time. I am used to seeing my members face to face, often for a couple of hours at a time and this has had to change. Of course this then presents its own challenges.

“Over the last couple of months I have been in regular telephone contact with Alphega members and a common message coming back is that they are finding their work life even more difficult and tiring than normal.

“Since the launch of the Pharmacist Support Wellbeing Hub I’ve been delighted to be able to signpost them to the resources that are available to them. The simple format of the modules makes them easy to understand and learn from, without having to take lots of time out of my day. These learning tools are not just about them. They can use the information to look out for any signs of their pharmacy team struggling in this difficult time.

“I’m proud that Alphega Pharmacy is a sponsor of these fantastic resources and would recommend them to any pharmacist who is finding life just that bit more difficult just now.”

Bina Patel, Alphega Pharmacy member

“This is a time where people really need support. Working in the time of COVID-19 puts increased pressure on all of us. It feels like going into battle every day and the Hub means that support is there and easily accessible whenever you need it.

“Part of Alphega’s purpose is to support pharmacists. Outsourcing certain services to well respected partners like Pharmacist Support shows a real understanding of your own business and what pharmacists need in this day and age.”
